Although horses are known for their strong eyesight, their ocular system remains sensitive to trauma, which can seriously compromise their vision. Therefore, supplementation with blueberry powder is recommended for horses prone to degeneration or eye fatigue, especially older individuals.
Blueberries are rich in flavonoids (natural pigments found in a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, leaves, and roots, which give them their blue color). These anthocyanins (natural pigments) and the vitamin A they contain help fight degenerative eye diseases. Blueberries are recommended for improving vision and treating various eye disorders. More specifically, by helping to increase capillary resistance and promoting the regeneration of retinal purple (the red pigment in the rod cells of the retina, which fades under the action of light), it also helps the eye to adapt properly to darkness and light.
